Happy 101st day of school! Yesterday Mr. Schneider's class celebrated the 100th day in style! They created posters with 100 items, colored 1-100 on gumball machines, drew pictures of what they'd buy with $100, made 100th day crowns and glasses, and even got a visit from a special friend! #SPSDlearning #togetherwesoar

MEETING BUMBLE! Bridges Elementary has a wonderful resource to help support the emotional needs of our students & staff in the future. We would like to introduce Bumble, a certified therapy dog-in-training, for our district. His gentle and loving demeanor, along with his extensive training by a certified trainer, he will be a wonderful resource for our Bridges School community. Bumble will assist students in building relationships, regulating emotions, and being ready to learn. #SPSDlearning #togetherwesoar

"In our class we have been learning about Ancient American Civilizations (Maya, Inca and Aztec). Students made their own headdresses similar to ones worn by the Emperor's of these great civilization. We are also learning about measurement in our math unit. We made our own tape measures and compared our heights to that of different penguins!" - Mrs. Volp #SPSDlearning #togetherwesoar

First-grade students at Bridges Elementary School received a special lesson on how to use binoculars last Thursday, thanks to a visit from Andy Haffemann, a parent of one of the students. Haffemann, who works at Vortex Optics, a Wisconsin-based company known for its high-quality optical gear, introduced the eager young learners to the fascinating world of binoculars. In an exciting collaboration, Vortex Optics generously donated twenty pairs of child-sized binoculars to the school. The binoculars will be used initially for the first graders’ upcoming bald eagle watching experience and will be available for use by the entire school for years to come. Haffemann demonstrated how to properly care for the binoculars, adjust the focus, and utilize them to observe nature. "It’s important that the students understand how to use the binoculars so they can fully appreciate the beauty of the wildlife they’ll be observing," a staff member explained. The students were thrilled with the hands-on lesson and are eager to embark on their bald eagle watching adventure next week. With their new skills and equipment, they’re sure to have an unforgettable experience spotting these majestic birds in their natural habitat. Thanks to Vortex Optics and Andy Haffemann, the young learners at Bridges Elementary are now prepared to make the most of their nature exploration in the weeks ahead! #SPSDlearning #togetherwesoar
